Ethermagic.eu Welcome to ethermagic.eu, where you can read all about Thierry Frenkel's modules for the Moog Etherwave theremins. There are two modules. The ESPE01 module for the Etherwave Standard and PLUS theremins by Moog Music (also by the previous name Big Briar), and the EPVM1345 module for the Moog Etherwave PRO theremin. They are manufactured, tested and shipped by me, Wilco Botermans. To the Shop EPVM1345 and ESPE01 The EPVM1345 module increased the dynamic range of the Moog Etherwave PRO® theremin. (scroll down for more info) The ESPE01 module extends the pitch range of the MOOG Etherwave Standard and PLUS theremins. It's features are: Lowest note goes down 2 octaves without affecting the high range, allowing a total range of 7 octaves Lineair playing range extends from about 3 octaves to 5+ octaves, makes finding the right note easier A warmer feel to the overal timbre Please note, with the ESPE01 module installed, the silent, 0-beat, gap below the lowest note will be much smaller. The ESPE01 module was made for the original Big Briar / Moog Music Etherwave standards and Plus theremin models. It can not be installed in the Moog Etherwave PRO theremin or the new (post 2021) Moog Etherwave theremin. To install the ESPE01 module in your Etherwave theremin (Standard or PLUS edition) you need good soldering skills, as it breaks into the original circuitry of the theremin. If you do not have these skills or are uncomfortable installing the module yourself, we can do it for you. The fee for that is 50 Euro. Email us for more details. To the Shop EPVM1345 The EPVM1345 (Etherwave Pro Volume Modification) improves the volume response of the Etherwave Pro® by Moog Music. Original Moog Etherwave Pro® theremins have what is called a snappy response. The softest audible sound is already quite loud, as silence is followed by a jump in volume from zero to a starting level of about -40dB. The consequences are not only a reduced dynamic range but also the impracticality of sophisticated expression at very low volume. The EPVM1345 module was made for the Moog Etherwave Pro, and does not function on any other Etherwave theremins. To install the EPVM1345 module in your Etherwave PRO® theremin you need good soldering skills, as it breaks into the original circuitry of the theremin.
